📚 What We're Learning

  • Phonics (UFLI Lessons 7 to 9): We’re learning the letters Ff, Ii, and Nn, and blending sounds to read words in the -at, -ap, -ip, and -in word families, like fat, nap, tip, and fin.
  • Math: We’re counting to 100 with our 100 chart and counting real collections of objects. We’re also solving CGI (Cognitively Guided Instruction) story problems, where children figure out their own way to solve a math story and share their thinking.
  • Science: We’re exploring spiders 🕷️ and learning about earthquakes, just in time for the Great ShakeOut!
  • SEL: We’re practicing empathy 💜, noticing how others feel and finding kind ways to help.

💖 Heart Words

Heart words are words we see often in books. Some have a tricky part that doesn’t follow the letter sounds we’ve learned yet, so we mark that part with a heart.

New this week: is, a. We’ll keep practicing all the others!

All our heart words so far: I, can, the, and, we, is, a

Ask your child to spot them in books at home!
